Tertiary Scholarships

Since our Scholarship program begun in 2013 we have assisted young people from the Heathcote and Nagambie districts to further their education at University or TAFE. Applications for our our Scholarship programs open December each year and are managed by the Community Enterprise Foundation.

Applications for our Tertiary Scholarship programs have closed but will reopen towards the end of 2023.

Abigail-Elise Lazenby is Bendigo Bank Nagambie’s’ 2023 Tertiary Scholarship winner. The Nagambie local was awarded a spot at LaTrobe Universities Biomedicine Bachelors Degree at Bundoora, a distance which made moving on campus the logical decision.

Ms Lazenby said “the scholarship will take a lot of financial pressure off me and allow me to focus more on my studies. It’s the equivalent of 11 weeks rent on campus.”

Ms Lazenby’s enrolment into the Biomedicine degree was inspired by her own journey with Type 1 Diabetes. Diagnosed when she was 12 years old, she felt a tremendous amount of support from the Diabetes Community and hopes that she can do the same for someone else.

“I’m currently leaning towards specialising in Type 1 Diabetes education which will require more specialised learning once I complete my degree” she said. “There is always more need to educate people about this condition.”

Branch Manager Teri Johnson said she was always so excited to be able to be a part of these vital scholarships.

“Bendigo Bank Nagambie along with Community Bank Heathcote & District are always looking for ways to support our youth with their education and I am so pleased that we have been able to award this scholarship to Abigail-Elise. It is through the support of our customers that we are able to offer scholarships like this and much more of our local communities.”
